2021 Class of EuropeIndia40: Meet the Top 40 Under 40 EU – India/ UK - India Leaders

MPs from British Parliament, European Parliament, Indian Parliament and Deputy Head of Mission of European Union delegation in India participated in the virtual launch ceremony


EuropeIndia40 Leaders list, the most authoritative list of young leaders who are playing a key role in promoting EU India relations and UK India relations, was announced during the virtual ceremony on 5th November. The 2021 Class of EuropeIndia40 list comprises of 22 women and 18 men and represent 19 different nationalities - Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal Romania, Sweden and United Kingdom. EuropeIndia40 list, an initiative of Europe India Centre for Business & Industry and supported by Sivaleen Foundation for Developed India, which is in its 3rd year to discover Top 40 under 40 Europe India Leaders, covers the stories of 40 young leaders below the age of 40 every year and their contributions in promoting EU India relations and UK India relations.


British MP Hon Virendra Sharma MP {Member of Parliament - UK/ Chairman - Indo-British All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG)}; Member of European Parliament Mr Soren Gade (Chairman of the European Parliament's EU Delegation for Relations with India); Member of European Parliament Mr Sandro Gozi ( Member - EU Delegation for Relations with India, European Parliament/ Former Undersecretary for European affairs of the Italian Government); Indian Member of Parliament Mr Alphons kannanthanam (Member - Standing Committee for External Affairs, Indian Parliament/ Former Union Minister - India) and Mr Seppo Nurmi (Deputy Head of Mission - Delegation of the European Union to India and Bhutan ) shared a message with 2021 Class of EuropeIndia40 leaders during the virtual ceremony.


Sujit S Nair, Chairman of Europe India Centre for Business & Industry (EICBI) said, “The relationship between UK and India as well as EU and India have been improving at a great pace over the past few years as the current generations of leaders in these regions have recognised the huge number of opportunities in the UK India corridor and Eu India corridor. It will require the next generation of leaders in the EU India corridor and UK India corridor to take forward the work done by the current generations of leaders and list like EuropeIndia40 leaders list helps young leaders to showcase their work to a wider audience”


The virtual event also saw the release of the EICBI’s EuIndia60 campaign logo. In the year 2022, India and the EU will celebrate 60 years of Diplomatic relations and the EuIndia60 campaign will focus on series of activities in 2022 to celebrate this special occasion. These activities will demonstrate the growing relationship between India and the EU over the last 60 years as well look at the future with hope as India shares many values with the European Union which makes India seem like a natural partner for the European Union
